Tyan® Computer Corp., a leading developer of system boards, today announced a distribution agreement with Atlanta-based SED International, Inc. SED will distribute Tyan's system board products to resellers and VARs in the U.S. and Latin America.
Tyan, a privately-held company based in Milpitas, CA, and a long time Intel marketing OEM partner, has begun targeting the reseller and VAR markets in recent months, partly because of the proliferation of
high speed processors that require quality system boards. Tyan has a complete family of Pentium and Pentium Pro motherboards based on Intel's latest chip sets,including the 430TX, 430HX, and 440FX. These
products cover a wide range of applications, from dual processing to high-end workstation and server configurations. In May, Tyan unveiled the first system board based on Intel's new dual Pentium II processor. "The new 200MHz and higher processors have very high voltage requirements, which necessitates quality capacitors to manage the energy loads," noted Tyan president, Larry Barber. "High
voltage combined with cheap capacitors can cause PCs to crash without warning, causing users to wrongly think they had a software problem. The only way to prevent this is to avoid cheaply-made motherboards from
