TYAN® ANNOUNCES SYSTEM BOARD FOR INTEL® XEON PROCESSOR BASED
SERVERS - Thunder i7500 Supports Intel® E7500 Chipset; Provides Breakthrough I/O Performance
Intel Developer Forum, San Francisco, CA, February 25, 2002 - Tyan®
Computer Corporation today announced it will begin shipping its Thunder i7500, one of the first dual processor system boards to utilize the Intel® E7500 chipset. Introduced on schedule after a highly successful development effort, the
Thunder i7500 supports two Intel® Xeon processors, including the latest Intel Xeon processor with 512K cache at a frequency up to 2.20GHz.
Tyan, a leading designer and developer of Internet
infrastructure products and system board solutions, is among the first system board manufacturers to ship a platform based on the Intel® E7500 chipset. The Thunder i7500 is the perfect platform for
OEMs and System Integrators who build high-performance servers for pedestal and rackmount applications.
In addition to supporting two Intel® Xeon Processors, the Thunder i7500 features two
fully independent PCI-X buses, providing over 2GB per second of maximum bandwidth – plenty of headroom for even the most I/O-intensive applications. The Thunder i7500 also supports up to 12GB of memory, dual-channel
SCSI, and features both Gigabit Ethernet and Fast Ethernet LAN ports. Pre-qualified OEMs have the opportunity to implement IPMI-compliant server management using Tyan's optional server management daughtercard.
"Supporting two Intel Xeon processors, two PCI-X buses, dual-channel SCSI, and Gigabit/Fast Ethernet connectivity, the Thunder i7500 demonstrates its position as the perfect platform for today's server
environments" said Dr. Symon Chang, founder and CEO at Tyan. "Tyan is pleased to be one of the first to market with this high-performance, highly integrated server solution."
"The Intel E7500
chipset is the premier, high-performance chipset for Intel-based servers, providing customers with leading-edge features required by today's most demanding applications," said Hemant Dhulla, director of enterprise
chipset marketing for Intel's Enterprise Platforms Group. "We work closely with system board manufacturers such as Tyan to design platforms based on the Intel E7500 chipset.
