TYAN TO EXHIBIT NEW TRANSPORT
BAREBONES SERVERS AT COMPUTEX 2005
Transport GT20 and GT24 to Deliver Convenience and Ease-of-Use to Customers
Many hours can be spent during system builds, and this time is multiplied over the expanse of several
hundred servers at some IT installations. To help alleviate the problem of long setup times and to ensure infrastructure-wide compatibility and support, Tyan will exhibit two new barebones server models based on the
Transport product brand: the Transport GT20 and Transport GT24.
TAIPEI, TAIWAN, May 31st, 2005 -
Using the technology architectures of the Intel® Xeon, Pentium® 4, or AMD Opteron processors, the Transport GT20 and GT24 can
be configured to meet many different requirements. Features of the GT20 and GT24 systems include:
- Standard width and height dimensions for easy integration into current/future installations
- Transport GT20… 17.2" width, 1.72" height, 22.4" depth
- Transport GT24… 17.2" width, 1.72" height, 25.4" depth
- Slim CD-ROM and FDD bay support (DVD-ROM optional)
- 350W (single processor support) or 500W (dual processor support) power supply
- Tool-less and screw-less chassis and major component design
- Service and support-centric modular backplane and storage design
- Bezel and LCD module customization options
- . . . and much more!
Other excellent features on the system-level include support for PC3200/2700/2100-type Registered Memory with ECC support (and ChipKill with
Opteron processors in select memory configurations), and hardware activity monitoring and control for components such as the fans and VRMs. All of this is backed by full parts, service and support policy from Tyan.
Specific products to be offered under these two new models include:
- Transport GT20 (B5151), single P4-based short-length server for general serving
- Transport GT20 (B5350), dual Intel Xeon server for high-end, space-limited applications
- Transport GT24 (B5363), full-length dual Intel Xeon server for HPC
- Transport GT24 (B2891), full-length dual AMD Opteron server for HPC
"Current system builds need to be functional as well as efficient for a range of applications in the 1U environment, with consideration for
scalability towards future needs," said Allen Liu, Tyan's Director of System Development Division. "With the Transport GT20 and GT24, Tyan can deliver sustainable and versatile barebones server solutions with a high
degree of customization to meet customer needs for today and tomorrow's application requirements."
