INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 26, 2006 - Tyan Computer Corporation, a leader in high performance computing system design, today announced a cooperative technology demonstration at the Intel Developer Forum Tech Insights address. This technology demonstration showcases Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processors 5300 Series (Clovertown) on a Tyan Personal Supercomputer (TyanPSC), based on cluster design and technology. Tyan's innovative line of personal supercomputers provide new ways to use and access the computational power of supercomputing by offering turnkey workstations that are easy to deploy, easy to use, and work in any lab, office or other constrained environments.

The IDF Tech Insights demonstration is a cooperative effort between Tyan and several leading HPC technology companies: Intel Corporation, Mellanox Technologies Ltd., Wolfram Research Inc., and Microsoft Corporation. The hardware combination of Tyan's cluster system design technologies, Intel's processor technologies and Mellanox's industry leading InfiniBand capabilities showcases the outstanding performance and efficiency personal supercomputing can achieve when running Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 and Wolfram's gridMathematica.

"Tyan works closely with our HPC partners to design and integrate the best technologies to meet our customers' computational needs. With Intel, Microsoft, Mellanox and Wolfram, Tyan delivers the latest in performance and efficiency to a wide range of HPC users." said Dr. Symon Chang, CEO of Tyan Computer Corporation. "Tyan is leading the industry by delivering turnkey cluster systems design and integration to our customers so they can to unleash their own capabilities and accelerate their time to solutions and insight."

"Companies such as Tyan are providing technology designs that are ideally positioned to take advantage of the new Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors," said Jim Pappas, director of initiative marketing for Intel Corporation.  "These new quad-core platforms provide breakthrough performance and efficiency for datacenters and high performance computing environments."

Tyan continues cutting edge systems engineering design that provides proven performance and reliability for HPC environments and leads the industry with the most forward looking platforms.

"Tyan's innovative platforms, complimented with Mellanox's InfiniBand HCA and switch ICs, provide leading-edge, low-latency, high-performance solutions for HPC environments," said Thad Omura, vice president of product marketing at Mellanox Technologies. "Mellanox's 10 and 20Gb/s InfiniBand solutions provide personal supercomputers with data center interconnect performance in an office environment."

In addition to hardware partners, Tyan is partnering with Microsoft to deliver next generation personal supercomputing platforms, showcased at the IDF Tech Insights, later this year using Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003.

"High-performance computing, which was once confined to the large government labs and research institutions, is becoming as readily available to designers and engineers as desktop programs," said Kyril Faenov, general manager of high performance computing at Microsoft Corp. "Today's demonstration proves that off-the-shelf, standards-based computing technologies can empower people with new approaches for design, safety and profitability. Microsoft is working with the industry to help make HPC technology more mainstream by delivering cost advantages and ease of use along with supercomputing performance to both large and small organizations."

To compliment Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003, Tyan is working with leading industry ISV Wolfram Research Inc. Wolfram's gridMathematica gives users proven tools to unlock the capabilities of Tyan's personal supercomputing potential.

"gridMathematica users drive innovation on the frontiers of science and technology, and in doing so they push the boundaries of high-performance computing. " said Schoeller Porter, senior software engineer at Wolfram Research. "We developed the pollution simulation demonstrated at the IDF Tech Insights to highlight gridMathematica as a platform for interactive, scientific discovery. This capability can only be achieved with the performance available in the TyanPSC cluster system. The multicore Intel Clovertown processors coupled with Mellanox InfiniBand on Microsoft CCS 2003, enable gridMathematica to provide researchers with key insights into computationally demanding problems."

Tyan's brings innovation to the HPC market by providing personal supercomputers for engineers and scientist that are searching for new ways to use and access the computational power of supercomputing.
