TYAN® ESTABLISHES COMMITMENT TO
THE ENVIRONMENT

Industry-Leading Motherboard and System Provider Makes
Widespread Changes, Benefits Future Ecosystem

FREMONT, CA, April 5th, 2006 -
In order to ensure the future of the world's ecosystem, Tyan®, a world leader in motherboard and system technology, has once again taken the lead by committing to removal of banned substances both in material usage in products and in the manufacturing process, effectively complying with legislation that establishes guidelines for reducing damaging waste from the computer hardware industry.

Common directives which Tyan is currently aligning with include the following:

  • 2002/96/EC, 2005/717/EC, 2005/618/EC and 2005/747/EC for the "Restriction of Hazardous Substances" (RoHS) EC directive
  • 2002/96/EC for the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) EC directive

By exercising adherence to the hazardous waste and materials regulation, Tyan is delivering products which serve customer interests, and aid in the management and support of the environment.

"The size of many IT hardware markets is increasing rapidly as different regions begin adopting technology at faster and faster paces to keep up with consumer demand, creating a situation where computer hardware is turned around quickly, and electronic waste is inevitable," said Danny Hsu, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Tyan Computer Corporation.  "Through compliance with hazardous waste substance regulation and material handling, Tyan is taking corporate responsibility by committing to the actions that support our future ecosystem."

Tyan's goals for RoHS and WEEE compliance are covered by Tyan's new online Environment section, available for public access here:
