Tyan Computer Corporation Announces the TyanPSC Personal Supercomputer for
Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003
Tyan and Microsoft are working together to deliver Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 on Tyan's
TyanPSC ushering in the Microsoft Windows era of Personal Cluster Computing. FREMONT, CA, June 28th, 2006 - Tyan Computer Corporation today announced a strategic relationship with Microsoft
Corp to deliver the TyanPSC Personal Supercomputing platform using Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003. Tyan Computer Corporation designs, manufactures and markets the TyanPSC Personal Supercomputing system,
based on cluster technology that provides turnkey supercomputing performance with the ease-of-use and productivity applications familiar to Microsoft users.
"We're pleased that Tyan Computer is offering an
innovative Personal Supercomputing platform design with Windows Computer Cluster Server 2003," said Kyril Faenov, director of high-performance computing at Microsoft Corp. "In five years, Microsoft wants every
researcher and scientist to have supercomputing power from their desk. The TyanPSC product line will accelerate the adoption of Windows-based Personal Supercomputing clusters over the next few years."
Designed
for offices and laboratories, Tyan's TyanPSC is a high-performance, innovative productivity tool for individual engineers, scientists, financial and creative professionals that need high- performance computing without
the hassle of a shared resource. The TyanPSC product line provides supercomputing performance while maintaining efficient power use and quite operation, allowing them to be used comfortably in enterprise and research
environments.
"Tyan is pleased to be aligned with Microsoft on Personal Supercomputing initiatives." said Symon Chang, CEO of Tyan Computer Corporation. "The combination of our design, manufacturing and systems
capability with Microsoft's operating system and server expertise, positions Tyan to be a premier solution provider for this quickly growing and important segment of the HPC market."
With Tyan's TyanPSC and
Microsoft's Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003, individual HPC professionals have a new set of tools to accelerate time-to-insight by taking advantage of simplified cluster deployment, management and use in all
technical environments. The familiar Windows productivity and management environment shortens start up time and eliminates the need for user training. At the same time, application developers can rely on Tyan's industry
standard hardware infrastructure while designing parallel processing applications within the familiar Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
With the TyanPSC, in combination with
Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003, Tyan is making clusters a convenient, flexible, low maintenance product with the ease-of-use and user experience of an integrated device, like a PC. The TyanPSC, at 70 GFLOPs
provides almost an order of magnitude higher performance than other workstations, at around the same cost. The Tyhphoon PSC also eliminate the usual support burden we have for high-performance computing - no extensive
infrastructure of IT staff.
The TyanPSC is easy to manage, easy to service, and easy to use. The experience and expertise Tyan has developed during the last decade, providing the building blocks of many mission
critical HPC installations, has been built in to this innovative Personal Supercomputer. For the first time, Tyan has combined its manufacturing excellence with it systems integration know-how to provide users with HPC
power at workstation prices and with the familiar Microsoft user experience.
At 70GFLOPs and whisper quiet, the TyanPSC delivers supercomputing power and flexibility without the burden of normal HPC
infrastructure or management. The TyanPSC provides a variety of configurations to meet the computational needs of many different workloads. Whether analyzing geophysical tomography data sets, modeling biological
processes or executing almost instantaneous financial analysis and transactions, the TyanPSC can be configured to meet multiple user goals.
