CPU - Intel Pentium III | Intel P 4 | Intel P III | Intel P II | Intel Celeron | Intel Xeon | AMD Athlon / Duron | Overview
Pentium® III is Intel's most advanced superior performance processor for servers, workstations and powerful desktops. It includes mulitmedia capabilities such as
full-motion, full screen video, and realistic graphics for a dramatic improvement in Internet Experience. Offered in SECC (Single Edge Contact Cartridge) package or FC-PGA 370
(Flip Chip Pin Grid Array) package, the Pentium III processors are offered at speeds from 450MHz to 1.0GHz depending on the package form factor.
Processor Features
The Pentium III utilizes features of P6 microarchitecture (namely a multi-transaction bus, Dynamic Execution performance, and Intel MMX)
- 70 new instructions for advanced streaming audio/video and speech recognition applications.
- 100MHz or 133MHz system bus
- 512K L2 Cache (half-speed) or 256K L2 Cache (full-speed)
- 450MHz through 1.0GHz clock speeds

Pentium III Processor Serial Number
Every Pentium III contains an electronic processor serial number designed to enhance
the Internet experience. Users can control the usage of this serial number by downloading and installing the processor serial number control utility. Upon installation ,
the processor serial number is disabled. The user will have the option of enabling the serial number whenever they choose.According to Intel, the main advantage of the electronic serial number is that it can
enhance the security on the web. The serial number can be used in concert with a username and password by websites that provide online transactions such as online
banking or e-commerce. This added security ensures that no other person can access your account(s) with your name and password if the electronic serial number is enabled.
The processor serial number can not broadcast information over the Internet. Privacy is in the control of the user.
