After I load my sound driver, Windows 95 restarts the computer. But Windows doesn't return to the desktop, instead it will switch to the shut down page "It is now safe to turn off the
computer".
There are two options to recover this system.
Option 1.
Reboot the system and press F5 to go into SAFE MODE. Go to Control Panel, ADD/Remove Programs -> Remove Sound Driver. Load USB driver first
and then reload the 4-9-99 sound driver again.
Option 2.
Reboot the system and press F5 to go into SAFE MODE. Go to Control Panel, ADD/Remove Programs -> Remove Sound Driver. Reload the new sound driver dated 6-30-99. (No
USB driver is needed) Click
HERE for the new sound driver (~ 3.2MB). **NOTE** For the driver to install
correctly, your Windows Operating System default directory MUST be "C:\WINDOWS".
Why does my system continuously reboot after installing the sound drivers for Windows 9x?
You need to use the updated sound drivers. These can be found on our website.
Why is the Front Side Bus speed set to 83 MHz after flashing the BIOS?
You
also need to flash the boot block. Please visit the Flash Utility page for instructions.
Why isn't my system stable?
Instability can be traced to many different
causes. The one cause most associated with instability is heat. 9 times out of 10 the heat sink is not installed properly on the cpu itself. The heat sink must be installed perfectly flat upon
the cpu with the proper amount of heat sink compound between the cpu and the heat sink. There simply can be no daylight between the heat sink and the cpu. The other issue is that the heat sink and
fan simply are not rated high enough to disperse the heat from the cpu in a timely fashion.
