- Where can I get Tyan motherboard jumper settings for Pentium III CPUs 500MHz and above?
There is no need to worry about setting the correct jumper settings for a Pentium III 550MHz and 600MHz because the CPU multiplier is hardwired into the CPU and changing
jumper settings will not make any difference. The BIOS will automatically detect the correct CPU speed that is installed.
- How do I bypass keyboard detection on systems with no keyboard?
On BX boards equipped with AMI BIOSs, enable the "Quick Boot" option in the Advanced Setup menu. This will bypass the keyboard check and allow you to
boot up without error.
- Why is the video screen scrambled after entering the BIOS setup?
Some video cards ( Diamond FireGL AGP, Viper 330 AGP, or 3D Labs chip AGP cards) BIOS is not compatible with AMI WinBIOS. You can use text mode BIOS to fix the
video problem. This text mode BIOS is available from BIOS download site.
- I got an error message "Memory conflict with AGP card" in Win95 device manager. What´s the solution?
This conflict is caused by the vxd file provided with Win95. This bug has been fixed in Win98.
- Will my motherboard run a PII/Celeron/Mendicino CPU?
- Yes,
the BIOS version 1.07 will support Celeron 266-300MHz and the BIOS version 1.12 (which will be released Sept. 18, 1998) will support the Celeron-A (Mendocino) 300-333MHz.
- My system will not turn off - why?
- The power button
is designed to turn off the system ONLY when you press/hold the power button for more than 5 seconds. The new BIOS version 1.12 will provide an option for instant power-off .
- When I clear the BIOS with the jumper, it does not clear - why?
- In most cases, BIOS can be cleared by inserting jumper JP2 to the 2-3 position. In some cases, certain brands of power supply need to be UNPLUGGED from a
power source in order to clear the BIOS using jumper JP3.
- I´m getting a "motherboard resource conflict" - seen in Win95/98 Device Manager as a yellow Exclamation Mark image. How do I clear it up?
- You need to install BIOS version 1.07 to resolve this problem.
- What are the jumper settings for a 450MHz CPU?
- Click here for the S1846 Jumper Settings Chart.
- My PII 400MHz CPU reads as a PII 266MHz instead. How come?
My PII 350MHz CPU reads as a PII 233MHz instead. How come?
- BEWARE! Some CPU´s out there are "marked". They may be sold as a 400MHz CPU (for
example), but are actually a 233MHz CPU (for example). Please check back with your vendor or contact Tyan Tech Support.
- I get this error message: "The Ensoniq Audio PCI driver cannot load MIDI waveset. MIDI playback has been disabled." How do I fix it?
- You need to install the latest Ensoniq driver from Tyan´s FTP site. Click HERE
to download the driver for Win95 or Win98. Click HERE to download the driver for WinNT 4.0.
- My Wake-On LAN network burned out my power supply. What should I do?
You need to use a power supply with 800ma at +5VSB power line. This is because most Wake-On LAN network cards require +5V 750 mA in sleep mode. We recommend
our customer to purchase the ATX power supply with minimum 800 mA at +5V SB output to avoid over-current damage to the power supply.
- How can I disable the keyboard detection in the BIOS v.1.12?
You need to enable the Quick Boot option in CMOS - then the BIOS will not check for a keyboard.
