Tyan® delivers groundbreaking Intel® E7500-based server platform

Thunder i7500 Pro Supports Intel® Xeon™ Processors with 512K cache; Features Five PCI Channels, Three LAN Ports

Intel Developer Forum, San Francisco, CA, September 9, 2002 - Tyan® today launched its Thunder i7500 Pro platform for Intel-based servers. This new system board supports two Intel® Xeon™ processors with 512K cache and utilizes the Intel® E7500 chipset, providing maximum performance and I/O throughput for today's high-speed servers.

Tyan, a leading designer and developer of Internet infrastructure products and system board solutions, was one of the world's first system board manufacturers to ship a platform based on the Intel E7500 chipset. The original Thunder i7500 was launched earlier this year, in conjunction with Intel's launch of the chipset.

Two features sure to capture the attention of top server OEMs and system integrators are the Thunder i7500 Pro's bus and networking capabilities. It features two 82870P2 PCI/PCI-X hubs, supporting up to four independent PCI-X channels. This architecture enables maximum throughput for PCI-X peripherals, including the ability to run multiple 133MHz PCI-X devices on their own channels. Industry-leading networking connectivity is also featured, with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, connected to their own PCI-X channel, as well as a Fast Ethernet port, connected to the PCI bus.

"Furthering our commitment to provide the broadest range of IA-32 based server solutions, the Thunder i7500 Pro leverages Tyan's outstanding engineering capabilities to provide industry-leading I/O and networking features on our latest Intel E7500-based platform" said Dr. Symon Chang, founder and CEO at Tyan. "The Thunder i7500 Pro provides the CPU, I/O, and LAN bandwidth necessary for today's high-speed servers."

"Intel's E7500 chipset has enabled Tyan to design a powerful platform for I/O and network-intensive server applications," said Hemant Dhulla, Director of Enterprise Chipsets Marketing, Intel Corporation. "The bus and networking implementations found on the Thunder i7500 Pro exploit the potential of the Intel E7500 chipset, bringing maximum bus and network performance to Intel-based server platforms."
