TYAN launches motherboard in early pilot phase of Intel's new “Intel Qualified Server Board” program.

Products: S5396

On February 4th, 2008, TYAN, one of the world leaders in high performance and energy efficient server solutions, announced the launch of this new board concurrent with the pilot of the Intel Qualified Server Board program. This new program offers customers a tested, proven and reliable platform.  To qualify in this pilot phase for the Intel Qualified Server Board program, the TYAN S5396 Workstation board underwent various testing by TYAN to meet certain product support requirements specified by Intel.  The tested platforms are verified by TYAN to meet specific system-level thermal requirements.  TYAN’s qualified platforms also will ensure compatibility with market-leading operating systems from Microsoft and RedHat.  In addition, to help reduce development costs, TYAN will have a list of compatible components (memory, adaptors & peripherals) available on its website.

The Tempest (S5396), features support for the Intel® Xeon® processor 5400 series and Intel® Xeon® 5400 series chipset.  This new powerful processor supports up to 12MB of L2 cache; dramatically improving platform computing.  The platform’s I/O expansion slot also features an upgrade to Gen 2 (true x16) PCI Express performance.  The S5396 is a dual socket workstation board that features eight (8) memory slots and onboard Firewire 1394 interface. The S5393 board with enterprise features is derived from S5396 and was launched in January.
