Fremont, CA, December 12, 2001 – Tyan®
Computer Corporation today announced that they have initiated shipments of their next-generation dual-processor DDR-based platform for the AMD AthlonTM MP processor. The new Tiger MPX system board utilizes the new AMD-760™ MPX chipset to provide breakthrough performance for I/O-intensive applications.
Tyan, a leading designer and manufacturer of Internet infrastructure products and system board solutions, is one of a handful of system board suppliers utilizing the new AMD-760 MPX chipset. Tyan's existing product line also includes platforms based on the AMD-760 MP chipset. The award-winning Thunder K7 and Tiger MP system boards were the world's first platforms to support the AMD Athlon MP processor.
The Tiger MPX features a variety of expansion slots including AGP, 32-bit PCI, and high-performance 66MHz 64-bit PCI. It also supports up to 4GB of high-speed Double Data Rate (DDR) memory, and features an optional integrated 3Com® 10/100BaseT LAN port for cost-effective network connectivity.
"Building on our long-term partnership with AMD, Tyan has once again produced an exciting new AMD processor-based platform for the multiprocessor market. Designed for the AMD Athlon MP processor and around the AMD-760 MPX chipset, the Tiger MPX is engineered to provide blistering computational and I/O performance for tomorrow's leading-edge servers, workstations and high-powered desktop PCs," stated Danny Hsu, Director of Marketing at Tyan.
"Tyan helped launch the first AMD multiprocessor architecture, and continues to play an important role in AMD's success in the workstation and server market," said Rich Heye, vice president, Platform Engineering and Infrastructure for AMD's Computation Products Group.
