Tyan® Announces Tiger 230™ Dual-Processor Systemboard

Cost-Effective Platform Designed For Entry-Level Workstations

Fremont, CA, January 10, 2001 – Tyan® Computer Corporation, a leading designer and manufacturer of Internet infrastructure products and systemboard solutions, announced their Tiger 230 platform today, expanding Tyan's broad line of multi-processor systemboards. The Tiger 230 features a dual-socket design, providing the ability to accept either one or two Intel® Pentium® III processors. This type of scalability is ideal for entry-level workstations, as well as power-users that demand leading-edge performance at an affordable price.

Scalability and Affordability

The Tiger 230 is the perfect Internet platform for power-users on a budget. With support for one or two processors, as well as up to 2 gigabytes of system memory, the Tiger 230 provides the processing power and memory capacity necessary now, with plenty of room for future expansion. This scalability enables users to meet their performance and budgetary requirements.

"The Tiger 230 provides leading-edge dual-processor performance for the workstation and power-user markets, while maintaining affordability for the masses" states Steve Hsia, Product Manager at Tyan. "In addition to its multi-processor design, users will also enjoy 4x AGP compatibility, DMA/100 support and plenty of PCI slots for expansion".

Workstation Performance

For users requiring peak processing performance for workstation applications, the Tiger 230 boasts dual PGA370 sockets. Each of these sockets will accept an Intel Pentium III processor running at up to 1GHz, ideal for CAD/CAM, financial analysis, and more. In addition, the Tiger 230 includes a 4x AGP slot that can accept a high-performance graphics accelerator. All these features, when combined with plenty of high-speed PC133 memory, provide outstanding performance for workstation applications.
