AMD validates TYAN® Tomcat K8S (S2850) with Opteron™ 148 Processor
AMD Validation of Tyan's Compact Server Platform Enables Customers with New Level of 64-Bit Performance
Fremont, CA, May 20th, 2004 - In a move to enable entry server customers with higher levels of 64-bit performance, AMD publicly recommended the Tyan Tomcat K8S (S2850) for use with the Opteron™ 148 processor.
Utilizing a compact ATX form factor to provide cost-savings for the power supply, expansion devices, enclosure, and other system components, the Tomcat K8S (S2850) delivers efficiency and performance for server appliances, gateway and firewall projects, and other small server applications. Key features of the Tomcat K8S (S2850) include support for a single AMD Opteron™ 100 series processor, dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, up to 8GB of DDR266 Registered ECC memory, six 32-bit PCI slots, and integrated Serial ATA RAID support. Leveraging from the latest AMD recommendation of Opteron 148 support, customers using the Tomcat K8S (S2850) platform are expected to realize incredible cost-savings on the system itself.
