, a dual AMD Opteron™ processor based server platform. Through rigorous testing, AMD has evaluated the Thunder K8S (S2880) as providing users a high degree of reliability, usability, and performance. AMD fully supports the solution and has listed it on its "AMD Opteron™ Processor Recommended Motherboards" list.
The Thunder K8S (S2880) is a powerful and unique solution for rackmount and pedestal servers. It optimizes the AMD Opteron™ processor's key features, such as 64-bit CPU processing coupled to an integrated memory controller to reduce memory and front side bus bottlenecks. The Thunder K8S (S2880) is also the first dual AMD Opteron™ processor platform that offers both Serial ATA and SCSI options for high storage capabilities, while dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports heighten network connectivity and bandwidth on a PCI-X bus.
