TYAN® announces the Transport GX21 series, 1U rackmount servers based on the Intel® infrastructure

The Transport GX21 Systems Are Versatile Solutions for Web Servers, Proxy Servers, Clustering, and More

Fremont, CA, January 14th, 2004 - Tyan® today launched the Transport GX21 series, robust multi-purpose server systems designed for the 1U rackmount.  Designed with accessible features in a compact 21.5" deep chassis, the Transport GX21 servers are user-friendly systems engineered for a variety of mission critical server needs.  The systems feature Hot-Swappable Serial ATA drive bays, front and rear access USB ports, pre-installed Slim CD-Rom drives, and more.  Representing affordability, usability, and power, the Transport GX21 series are targeted for general-purpose servers, multimedia and video servers, workgroup servers, and high power computing applications.

Two models of the Transport GX21 are available.  The
Transport GX21 (B2735) is a dual Intel® Xeon™ processor based server with powerful features for high-end server usages.  It accommodates up to 12GB of ECC Registered memory, strategically placed DIMM slots for maximum airflow, and two Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and one Fast Ethernet LAN port on a space-efficient ATX form factor motherboard.  The Transport GX21 (B2735) also offers an onboard SO-DIMM for an optional add-on Ultra320 SCSI controller card for extra storage.

As a value server solution, the
Transport GX21 (B5102) also offers competitive features without compromising performance. The Intel® Pentium® 4 based GX21 (B5102) is complete with onboard ATI® RAGE™ XL graphics, Serial ATA with RAID support, and Gigabit Ethernet and Fast Ethernet connectivity.  The Transport GX21 (B5102) is the ideal cost-effective solution for network infrastructure development and front-end serving needs.

"The Transport GX21 series meets the demand for a wide range of server needs," said Danny Hsu, Senior Director of Marketing at Tyan.  "It has tremendous support and flexibility for all compute-intensive applications through its offerings in broadband, storage, memory, and chassis design."

The Transport GX21 (B2735 and B5102) is currently sampling and will reach mass production by the middle of the first quarter of 2004.
