Tyan® Launches TRANSPORT Line of Server Platforms

Barebones Solutions Available in Quad, Dual, and Single-Processor Configurations

Fremont, CA, February 27, 2003 - Tyan® today unveiled its new TRANSPORT line of rack-optimized server platforms. Aggressively priced and specifically engineered for datacenter and enterprise applications, TRANSPORT barebones servers provide OEMs and S/Is with simplified, cost-effective platforms for building robust, space-efficient servers.

Designed for front-end server and clustering applications, the 14" deep TRANSPORT GX14 1U servers provide maximum performance in the industry's most compact footprint. This reduced depth enables customers to configure server racks with up to twice as many 1U servers as competing platforms. TRANSPORT servers configured with Tyan's Tiger i7500 S2722, Tiger i7501 S2723, or Tiger GC-SL S2727 are the industry's only dual-CPU platforms for the Intel® Xeon™ processor that are available in a 14" deep 1U chassis.

For enterprise applications, Tyan offers the TRANSPORT FX27. Supporting up to four Intel® Xeon™ processors MP, this feature-rich 4U server platform provides exceptional performance and fault-tolerance for mission-critical applications. With Adaptive Load Balancing LAN connectivity, HotSwap SCSI, HotPlug PCI(-X), HotSwap redundant power, and IPMI v1.5 compliant server management, the TRANSPORT FX27 is the most powerful Tyan platform currently available.

"TRANSPORT platforms provide extreme performance and the ultimate in space-efficiency for datacenter and enterprise server applications," said Danny Hsu, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing at Tyan. "TRANSPORT GX14 series platforms feature a compact, lightweight design, and offer the versatility of allowing the system builder to choose the processing level that meets their performance and budgetary requirements. TRANSPORT FX27 series platforms provide leading-edge performance and features for the enterprise and backend server markets."

TRANSPORT GX14 and FX27 platforms have commenced shipping, with volume production expected in early March. (evals available now)
